We’re delighted that to be bringing our 2017 tour to the wonderful Kelburn Garden Party.

We will screen over 70 films in the 3 days of the festival and are delighted to be working with Glasgow Short Film Festival, Film G, The Scottish Documentary Institute, The University Of West of Scotland, Wee Linties and many others to bring you this programme.

From family animations to warm-hearted classics, political documentary to experimental forms we aim to inform, challenge and entertain you. Below are some specially selected highlights of the festival for the full programme for each day go to Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

6pm – Wee Linties Travelling Archive presents The Singing Street 

The Singing Street is a wonderful slice of Scottish life. This 1951 film is a collection of children’s songs and street games, recorded on the streets of Edinburgh. After the screening, Wee Linties are inviting you out to play! We’ll be learning some of the songs and games featured in the film and having a wee go at making up our own. If you have songs and games from your own streets to share, we would love to hear them and add them to a special archive of our own!

Saturday 12pm (Noon) – Song of the Sea | 90 mins | Moore | 2015

Ben, and his little sister Saoirse, the last seal-child, embark on fantastic journey across a fading world of ancient legend and magic to their home by the sea.

Saturday 3pm – National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive presents – Fun Films Fae Scotland

Join us for a unique sneak peak at old films from the archive for all the family and discover the quirky side of your Film heritage. Screening a series of shorts from across Scotland – including Silent Films, Animations, Black and White Comedies and Colourful Classics!

Saturday 8pm – Big Gold Dream | 94 mins | Grant McPhee| Scotland | 2015

The history of Scottish music from 1977 to 1985. In the late 1970s, from a tenement flat in Edinburgh, Bob Last and Hilary Morrison operated their record label Fast Product. A predecessor to Rough Trade and Factory Records, Fast Product quickly became the hub for a group of ground-breakingly talented musicians. This documentary is the previously untold story of a post-punk/indie music scene that reverberated from Edinburgh, throughout the UK and beyond.

Sunday 3pm-  One Potato Two Potato | 32mins | Leslie Daiken |UK | 1957 with re-imagined live soundtrack by Georgie McGeown (Velma, Sound of Yell & ILK)

A black and white experimental documentary which follows the outdoor play of city children in London in the 1950s performed with a re-imagined live soundtrack by Georgie McGeown (Velma, ILK, Sound of Yell).

Georgie blends song, flutes, and light percussion improvised to create an atmospheric sound world. The music is partly inspired by the film and partly from the extensive time Georgie has spent playing music with children for nearly a decade.

9pm – Where You’re Meant to Be | 76 min |  Paul Fegan |Scotland | 2016 – Cult-pop raconteur Aidan Moffat sets out to explore Scotland’s past by rewriting and touring its oldest songs. But he doesn’t count on running into 79-year-old force of nature Sheila Stewart – a travelling balladeer who upturns Moffat’s folk assumptions. He believes the old songs are ripe for updating. She does not.
