ButeFest and Cinemor77 are pleased to be bringing you an eclectic mix of hand-picked films to celebrate music and the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, with support from Rothesay Pavilion.
We will screen over 70 films in the 3 days of the festival and are delighted to be working with Glasgow Short Film Festival, Film G, The Scottish National Film Archive, The Scottish Documentary Institute, The University Of West of Scotland and many others to bring you this programme.
From family animations to warm-hearted classics, political documentary to experimental forms we aim to inform, challenge and entertain.
Below are some specially selected highlights of the festival for the full programme for each day go to Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Film highlights:
Sunday 3pm – Glasgow Short Film Festival – Family Friendly Shorts (U) – A selection of the best family friendly animations from GSFF.
Sunday 12noon – Zaraffa (PG) – Maki, a Sudanese boy who escapes from slave traders to become the protector of Zarafa, an orphaned giraffe who becomes his best friend.
Friday 8pm – From Scotland with Love (PG) – A journey into our collective past, the film explores themes of love, loss, resistance, migration, work and play.
Saturday 3pm – National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive presents: Fun Films Fae Scotland (U) – Join us for a unique sneak peak at old films from the archive for all the family and discover the quirky side of your film heritage including films from in around Rothesay and Bute.
8pm – Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars (18) – Told through the universal language of music this film reveals a uniquely inspiring and personal story of survival and rebirth in the wake of the horrors of war.
