Jupiter Rising 2019 provide the ideal setting in which to nurture and explore new communities. The Cinemor77 Yurt is a unique space where festival goers can connect to one another through experiencing inspirational art and music within an intimate space. Making the most of the landscape outside of the Yurt and the Yurt itself, activities will include use of experimental film and music making social participation in order to entertain, inspire and build the Jupiter Rising community.
Performative Event
In response to the inspirational landscape of Jupiter Artland, we will run a live performative event. Utilising raw materials sourced from the Jupiter Artland landscape, participants will be invited to form the Jupiter Rising Arkestra which will perform a live soundtrack to a pre-made short film exploring the landscape at Jupiter Artland. Prior to the performance, we will invite participants to go on a guided found sound exploration activity exploring body-landscape connections and identities. People will be encouraged to focus on capturing environmental sound which could be both via personal recording devices, through memory (imitating sounds found with human voice) and organic materials i.e organic materials found in the Jupiter landscape. Utilizing the Yurt as a performative space, participants would then be encouraged to re- group and work towards an improvised score of the short film. After a few runs through, the rest of the artland community will be invited to a performance of the piece.
Ideas behind the activity
- Audiences are curious and want new experiences especially at an independent festival
- Celebration of expression through inclusivity – music connects people, we are all composers.
- Futurist social instrument creation event, proposition for a 21st-century orchestra.
- Connection through shared ecological experiences, rural escapism
